Together, as part of The Hospital Research Foundation Group, we raised $520,517 to improve healthcare and support services in our community.
On Thursday 1 June, our community came together over 12 hours to raise essential funds to change lives and bring hope to those living with Parkinson’s across Australia!
Throughout Giving Day, our staff, volunteers and ambassadors joined in on the fun at our Woodville office by jumping on the phones to call on their friends, family, colleagues and our community to join the fight against disease and illness, including Parkinson’s.
Thanks to a generous group of supporters, we were able to double every donation!

Together, we raised over $520,000 with a portion of funds going towards support people living with Parkinson’s!
As part of the Group, we had the incredible opportunity to raise much needed funds for our support services and research such as Dr Blagojce Jovcevski’s.

The Hospital Research Foundation Group – Parkinson’s staff cooked a feast for our hungry fundraisers!
Dr Jovcevski from the University of Adelaide and his team is investigating the role protein function in the gut plays in neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s, which could also help with prevention and lead to improved diagnosis!
Dr Jovcevski and his team will investigate the protein mechanisms that fail in the gut-brain axis driving neurodegeneration, to better understand how these diseases originate and progress. This can then inform new biomarkers for diagnosis and even prevention.
Once Dr Jovcevski better understands the role the gut plays in the development of Parkinson’s, he will be one step closer to finding a way to stop its progression!
This study has the potential for a life-changing breakthrough, helping those who will be diagnosed with Parkinson’s in the future.
Thanks to your support and those of our gift-matchers, we can continue to support our services and life-changing research like Dr Jovcevski’s after we smashed our target of $450,000 and raised 115% of our goal, receiving 1836 donations!
“Thank you to all of our supporters, volunteers and businesses that partnered with us. It’s been a magnificent day and we are making a brilliant impact on the health and wellbeing of our community,” CEO Paul Flynn said on the day.
It’s incredible what we can achieve when we work together! Thank you for your support on Giving Day.
