Remembering Robert Taylor

Robert Taylor

The ACT Parkinson’s community was saddened by the passing of Robert Taylor, 71, on 14 May, 2025.

John Sheldrick, a current member of The Hospital Research Foundation Group – Parkinson’s ACT and a former President of Parkinson’s ACT Committee, has penned the following tribute for Robert.

The Parkinson’s community in the ACT was well served by Robert, and it extends its condolences to his wife Virginia and family.

Robert was a great contributor to the Volunteer Committee of Parkinson’s ACT for several years where he acted as Secretary for the Committee.

Robert suffered from Parkinson’s and despite having to run his Alpaca farm near Michelago and the travel time involved and at the same time increasing severe medical problems of another kind, he continued his role and support to the Committee.

However, these circumstances forced him to resign from the Committee just prior to the time of the merger with THRF.

Notwithstanding, his interest and concern continued in following years.

Members of the Committee attended his funeral and it was pleasing to see the love and esteem for him recognised throughout his family – from his siblings to his grandchildren.

Comments of love, integrity, industry, concern for and assistance for family and to others and strong fundamental morals were brought forward.

Robert brought the same characteristics to the PACT Committee with a strong desire to assist and offer advice within Committee discussions and across its operations.

Thank you, Robert.  May you rest in peace.
